Tricia + Nick : Married

SO down to earth and so completely head over heels for each other, Tricia and Nick were the most perfect couple to photograph during their outdoor Minnesota winter wedding!  Tricia is a photographer which only made her attention to detail pure perfection!  My favorite detail of the day was their wedding programs, printed on vintage hankies!

Mini-Sessions : March 4th

It’s time to sign up for spring Mini-Sessions! Olivia Wagner Photography and I are teaming up to bring you a fun and unique experience for your mini-session! We’ve rented out a gorgeous two room suite at the uber-classy, Le Meridien Chambers Hotel, in downtown Minneapolis on Sunday March 4th!  I’m taking reservations via email (tasha@redbirdhills.com) and the day is booked on a first-come, first serve basis!  I have 8 slots open for the day: 9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm & 4pm.  Sessions can be for boudoir, couples, families, child/children, individuals – anyone who wants some fun new images:).

Here are pictures of the hotel and suite we will be photographing in!  Can you imagine your kids jumping on the bed, or your family all snuggled up reading books, playing a game in matching jammies, or having an innocent pillow fight?  How about your toddler in that awesome bathtub filled with bubbles?!  The hotel is bright, art-filled, and urban-feeling, so the option to be photographed in the modern living room or around the hotel by all the great art will give you a more urban look!  The location is perfect for a fun and different mini-session!  Shooting in a studio is always a possibility, so we thought it would be fun to mix it up and go here!

After I receive your email, I will send you a link to get all the necessary information for booking!

Sherri + Skye : Adoption

I volunteer for a wonderful organization called, Red Thread Sessions, that gives families who are adopting, a complimentary portrait session that can be used at the birth of the adopted child, the homecoming of a special child, or within the first few weeks together as a family.  Sherri & Skye were my very first Red Thread Session!  When talking with Sherri, we both felt it was so important to have Skye’s everyday life (together with Mommy) photographed for them to remember and reflect upon as Skye grows!  We played dress-up, had a dance party, ran around in the backyard, and warmed up over a snack and hot cocoa!  What an honor it was to capture these precious moments for these two lovely ladies!

Love that last one!! What a cute family/house!!!

Isla : Birth

Births are my most favorite thing to photograph!  Everything about them is real – the moments, the emotions, the bonding… I love capturing that for a client!  It’s once in a lifetime experience and as life-changing as the day you get married (if not even a little more), so why not have it photographed, right?!  It’s not a concept that has completely taken off in the cities yet, but I’m hoping it will because those are precious moments that fly by and should be caught on film!

Isla was born to Jon & Sara (and proud big sister & big brother, Olivia & Sullivan) on December 28th!  My favorite things about the day were:

- They had a girl!  Which is what I guessed it was going to be!
- I ALMOST got to be in the Operating Room for the c-section, but one harsh nurse said “no” (how cool would that have been?!? Seriously).
- I was able to be with Jon & Sara before the surgery and then immediately following, go with Jon & Isla (while Sara was in recovery) and document that first hour of life between Daddy & daughter for Sara to see later:)
- When the big kids arrived to see their brand new sister, I could hear Olivia exclaim through the glass “It’s a girl!” and then followed by “Tasha! Sully, Tasha’s here!”….. Love these kids.
- When Sullivan hugged the baby warmer just so he could be close to his new baby sister.
- The “patient goals” the nurses would write on the white board like “have a baby” and “bond with baby”.
- How adoring Jon, Sara, Kristi (Sara’s mom) and the kids were with Isla…. So much love.
- Jon gave Sara a gorgeous sapphire & diamond ring.
- Sara knit both a little boy and little girl hat & brought them to the hospital.  You’ll see her lovely creation below.

Enjoy this sweet family!
